This article will talk you through all things Charging Cables. We’ll answer frequently asked questions, explain why personalised charging cables are a fantastic investment for your business and showcase some of the best charging cables we have to offer.

What are Charging Cables?

Charging cables are used to charge a range of portable devices like smartphones. They work by connecting the device to a power source, such as a power bank or laptop, and often feature multiple connectors to support a range of devices. Otherwise referred to as USB Charging Cables or Multi-Cables, this innovative product is the perfect tech accessory.

Why are Charging Cables a must-have tech product?

Multi-Cables feature multiple connectors that can be used across a range of devices. Universal compatibility across multiple smartphones and portable devices means you don’t need loads of cables – just one! This ultimately reduces waste and is better for the environment, particularly if you opt for one of our eco-friendly cables.

Charging on the go has never been easier and having all connectors and charging ports combined into one handy device makes these tech accessories ultra-convenient and portable, ready to use across multiple devices.

Are all USB Charging Cables the same?

Charging cables ultimately have the same foundations and all offer the ability to connect a device to a power source, however sometimes the input / output connectors can vary.

Most USB Charging Cables will feature a Type-A (standard USB) input connector – this is plugged into the power source, i.e. laptop, power bank or plug. Common output connectors include Micro USB, Lightning and Type-C – these plug into the device you want to charge, allowing compatibility across a range of smartphones and portable devices, depending on which connector is needed.

However, Charging cables can differ on their charging speed capabilities. This depends on 3 factors: the device you are charging, the power source you are using and the speed of the charging cable. For example, our Travel Cable Kits include a 60W Type C to Type C cable. This means it can carry more power when charging devices, so will charge devices a lot faster than other cables such as the promotional 3 in 1 cable (depending on the power source and the device you are charging).

Does it matter what Cable you use?

Essentially no, as all cables do the same function however the cable you might opt for may depend on your requirements. For example, with the rise in USB-C (you can find out more about this in our article here…) you may require a USB-C input and output, in which case you may need a particular charging cable compatible to your devices, like our LED 5 in 1 Cable. Or you may wish to fully customise the cable to fit your company’s branding.

You may also opt for a charging cable that can carry more power for faster charging on the go, like the Travel Cable Kit!

Take a look at the different types of cables to see which one may be the best option for you:

  • 3-in-1 Cables - this type of cable generally features 1x USB-A input only with 3 output connectors: Lightning, Micro USB and Type C
  • 5-in-1 Cables - this type of cable features 1x USB-A input and 1x USB-C input, with the additional 3 output connectors: Lightning, Micro USB and Type C
  • Cable Kits - these feature 1x 60W Fast-Charging Type C to Type C cable with 3 adapters: Lightning, Micro USB and a Type C to USB-A adaptor
  • Custom Cables - this type of cable features the same as a 3-in-1 charging cable but can be customised to your brand colours and features a custom mould 3D shape cable holder

How do I know if my USB Cable is charging only?

The USB charging cables do not charge your device themselves, they simply just connect your device to a power source, i.e. laptop, power bank, USB port etc.

Our multi-cables all feature USB-A inputs with some also featuring type C inputs (which you plug into the power source), and all other connectors are outputs to plug into the device you wish to charge.

Our charging cables work perfectly with our range of power banks, with most power banks having charging indicators to let you know when the power bank is charging your device and how much power is left.
